航海世纪是一款以中国文化为背景的网路游戏扛鼎制作，游戏围绕16世纪初中国和世界蔚蓝版一个传奇般的奇幻故事为中心，宣扬的是中国5000年悠久的历史和中国的海洋文化及华夏子孙强烈的爱国情怀。

从西元15世纪起，西欧海洋探险家的远洋船队为寻找通往传说中富有金银及香料等奢侈品的神秘东方大地的新航路。

马六甲的建立者是「拜里米苏拉」国王。他是一位在西元1396年为了对付乱人「满者伯夷」国 而离开「三佛齐」巨港(今苏门答腊)的王子。按照流行的传说(马来史记) ，拜里迷苏拉打猎时在一棵树下休息，他的一条狗将一只鼠鹿（又名小鼷鹿） 逼到绝境。为了自卫，鼠鹿将狗赶进河里。拜里迷苏拉对鼠鹿的勇气印象深刻，决定在他坐的地方建 立一个帝国。他就以在下面休息的这棵树的名字将这里命名为“马六甲”。拜里迷苏拉在西元1414年皈依伊斯兰教，建立了马六甲苏丹国（马六甲王朝），改名 “SULTAN ISKANDAR SHAH”。依据明史，拜里迷苏拉第二次拜访大明国时被永乐帝制定 封为马六甲国王，从开始从渔村成为该地区最重要的港口，吸引来自爪哇，印度，阿拉伯和大明的商人，作为两次季风之间中印贸易的停泊点。
