About Persona 5: The Phantom X

Persona 5: The Phanotm X is a completely new title based on the world of Persona 5 and set in Tokyo, and follows an original story surrounding a new group of Phantom Thieves. The style and basic gameplay of the original game are preserved, while the graphics have been brushed up, and the user experience and presentation optimized for smartphone users. Persona 5 is a role-playing video game developed by Atlus, released in Japan in September 2016, and worldwide in April 2017 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles. The game follows the story of the protagonist, who is known as the "Phantom Thieves of Hearts," as they try to change the hearts of corrupt individuals by stealing their "treasure" in a supernatural world known as the Metaverse. Persona 5 was critically acclaimed and won several awards for its innovative gameplay, story, and music.

SEGA and ATLUS‘ P-Studio are supervising development and providing resources, while Perfect World Games and Black Wings Game Studio will develop, distribute, and operate the title. While it is based on the world of Persona 5, it is being developed as a new game tailored to local user preferences, trends, and gameplay environments. The protagonist and his Persona were designed by ATLUS art team’s Shigenori Soejima.

The game is focused on the theme of “desire,” and tells the story of students who have awakened to their “Personas,” facing difficulties together in an era of “low desire.” A mysterious old man with a long nose, a strange underwater room, an owl that can speak human language, and another world separate from reality—these seemingly unrelated things are all somehow connected.

Players will take on the role of a student, attending classes during the day and participating in activities such as baseball or watching movies with friends during their free time. After school, they can infiltrate the other world, which appears in the form of palaces with different themes, and use their Personas to engage in high-octane battles against enemies. Pre-register

The protagonist, who is named by the player, is a high school student who is falsely accused of assaulting a man and sent to live with his new guardian, Sojiro Sakura, in Tokyo. He discovers that he has the power to enter the Metaverse, a parallel world created by the desires of people's hearts, and that he is not alone in this ability. Along with his fellow Phantom Thieves, he uses his powers to change the hearts of corrupt adults who have abused their power and caused harm to others.

The Phantom Thieves' ultimate goal is to take down the main antagonist, a powerful figure known as "Shido," who is involved in corrupt politics and has manipulated the government to his own benefit. The Phantom Thieves must navigate through different Palaces, which are manifestations of a person's distorted desires, and fight their Shadows and eventually the Palace's ruler, to steal their treasure and change their hearts.

The gameplay of Persona 5 involves a combination of dungeon-crawling, turn-based combat, and social simulation. The protagonist must balance his time between his school life, part-time jobs, and socializing with his friends to improve his relationships with them and unlock new abilities in combat. The game also features a dating sim element where the player can form romantic relationships with some of the female characters.

The game's soundtrack, composed by Shoji Meguro, has received high praise for its unique blend of jazz, rock, and pop elements. The game's art style, which features a blend of anime and Western comic book influences, has also been highly praised for its stylish and distinctive look.

Persona 5: The Royal is an expanded version of Persona 5, released in Japan in October 2019 and worldwide in March 2020 for the PlayStation 4. The Royal features additional content, including a new playable character, Kasumi Yoshizawa, a new Palace, and new story elements that expand on the original game's narrative.
